The Holly Hill landslips

The North West side of Holly Hill, above the village of Herne Hill in north Kent, shows a good example of instability affecting a London Clay slope.  Photo 1 shows the this slope and the typical form of solifluction lobes (soil creep) in London Clay.  They move slightly after a sufficiently wet winter showing fresh soil at the downslope edges.

Photo 2. The top of a small rotational slip south of Holly Hill (NGR TR 0748 5989, ///quaking.cases.vest).

Photo 2 shows the top of the slope to the south of Holly Hill, affected by a small rotational slip which extended into the field below the road.
